Tutorial: Rockin’ Some Radical Glitch Effects in PS (plus 4 Free TV Glitch Textures just for YOU)

TV Glitch Effects: Makin’ Em in PS (& Free TV Glitch Textures, Too!)

So guys, we’re kind of obsessed with these tv glitch textures we’ve been seeing around town lately. So, we created some for you to use and apply to your work right now.

Download: 4 Free TV Glitch Textures by Go Media’s Arsenal

We also thought you might like to learn how to apply your own glitch effect on photos in Photoshop. So stick around and we’ll create some magic together.

Ready, set…

Step 1

Choose your photo and open it up in PS.

Something about this photo really called to me. Can’t put my finger on it.

Step 2

Press play.

Step 3

Open up your channels panel, then highlight your red panel.

2

Step 4

From your menu options, select Filter > Distort > Shear

3

Step 5

Using the points given, create a soft wave.

In the “Undefined Areas,” section, select “Repeat Edge Pixels,” then select “Ok” to Save.

4

Step 6

Look back at your channels panel. Make sure all of your colors are selected now. What do you think? Love what you see? Want more cowbell?

5

If you’re craving more glitch, select your green panel and repeat the process we completed in Step 5.

6

Step 7

And, you guessed it! Feel free to repeat with the blue color channel as well.

Play with it until you’re satisfied.

7

Step 8

Last, let’s go Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Crank that up as high as you’d like (Gaussian) and Ok to Save.

8

Step 8

Boom! You’re done! Mock that beautiful art up on a MockupEverything.com or Arsenal template and call it a day. I salute you!

30+ Quirky, Free Fonts We’re Shouting Out

Vector Freebie: Go Media Design Tools

It’s your lucky day.

Hey Go Media Faithful!

As many of you know, we’ve done a good bit of work to the ‘ole Go Media Storefront in the last year.

storefrontrenovation

Because of this, our very own Carly Utegg has been hard at work designing the window elements seen in heavenly “After” image above.

We love the design tools she created so very much that we’ve decided to release a vector freebie based on her designs.

Yep, just for you.

Just head over to the Arsenal and snatch ’em right up!

Hurry before it becomes a $1.00 download!

Design Cuts

Go Media + Design Cuts = training, freebies, and more!

Hey girls and lads, meet Design Cuts

Born and raised in London, England

Hello all, Simon here? I’d like to introduce you to a very skilled group of individuals we started working with. They’re called Design Cuts, and they come from across the pond.

Design Cuts

As you can see above, the main page of the site prominently features a (sweet) video and a signup form. Let me share some more about what you’ll find after adding your address in the form.

An event!

Indeed! We’re part of a great, ten day long event, full of free stuff and of tutorials. And it starts today! Wait, did I just say, free stuff?

Freebies!

Heck yeah, that’s right! As soon as you confirm the signup on the main page, you’ll get access to the page below. It lists the tutorials that are available, and also allows you  to download the corresponding freebies.

Design Cuts

Training!

The first tutorial has been written by Chris Spooner (of Spoon Graphics fame). It’s a neat little piece, that will walk you through the various steps needed to obtain a retro type effect. It covers everything you could need to do so, from shading, layering, to aging. The associated freebies, that are integral to the tutorial, could also easily get a second life in your own projects. And you’ll already know exactly how to use them!

But let’s talk about that second tutorial a bit more, shall we?

Design Cuts

The most observant from you have recognized the vibe here: the 1980s. Well, using a generous amount of freebies from our 80s pack, you’ll learn how to recreate one of these sweet looking ads for Atari (or any other electronic devices from the era, really), down to the neon colors and starry skies.

The tutorial is full of little tips and tricks, so you’ll learn something even if you’re a seasoned professional.

And, and don’t forget: freebies! 3d grids, cassette tape, Rubik’s cube…

Design Cuts

General greatness!

As the title of the post can let you guess, that’s not it.Maybe Design Cuts’ twitter handle will give you a clue? You should give them a follow at @DesignCutsDeals.

We can’t wait to share more about what’s next. Stay tuned in the next weeks for additional awesomeness coming your way, courtesy of the Arsenal and Design Cuts!
